GOVERNOR KACHAPIN KEEN ON MAKUTANO SEWERAGE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

Governor Simon Kachapin has affirmed his support and commitment for implementation and completion of a multi- million Makutano Sewerage Project funded jointly by the Kenyan government and African Development Bank. 

 

The project which is being implemented under the Kenya Town Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program seeks to create a conducive environment for business to thrive in Makutano and Chepareria towns.

 

In a one day workshop on the design review and capacity building for KAWASIS facilitated by the Central Rift Valley Water Works Developement which is the implementing agency, Governor Kachapin said the project will be a game changer for the residents of West Pokot and is expected to unlock business potential that will be a major boost to the local economy. 

 

The workshop that incorporated top management from WARMA, NEMA, KAWASIS, Lands and Urban Development, Water and Environment , Roads and Transport and Health Departments, sought to enhance project sensitization and capacity building for KAWASIS to be able to manage and propel the project to fruition.

 

The project is expected to start in November, 2022.

 

Earlier on, Governor Kachapin graced a cross- sectoral sensitization workshop on guidelines for preparation of 3rd generation CIDP 2023-2027 at the same venue.

 

He said he is keen to ensure that the five-year plan will be transformative with a key focus on wealth and employment creation, poverty reduction and provision of a conducive environment for investment.
