The county government through the ministry of trade issued farmers with yet another consignment of modern bee hives. The dispatch comes barely a year after other farmers from North Pokot Sub-County received bee hives from the County Government.
The batch has seen the County Government spent Ksh.1.2 Million shillings for farmers in parts of West, Central and South Pokot to benefit.
Speaking during the flag off ceremony at the County Government offices the County Executive Member for trade Mr. William Lokira urged farmers to embrace modern techniques in Agriculture. He said the County Government with His Excellency Governor Simon Kachapin is committed to create a meaningful activity for farmers among other enterprises.
The CEC for finance Mr. Joel Ng’olekong also echoed the sentiments citing that honey is a mojor economical drive since it has a global market. “Honey is applied in the manufacturing of medicine among other products” he said. He encouraged the farmers to utilize the resource in order to reap the most out of it.
