The county government through the office of the governor has commissioned ICT Centre/ Library at Kaptabuk Primary School which was constructed by Dr. Rosa in partnership with Arcese.
Governor Prof. John Lonyangapuo said the centre will facilitate the uptake of online jobs by the youth as well inculcate a reading culture. The county government has stocked the newly opened library with English and Kiswahili story books aimed at improving performance in languages.
“We are committed to empowering our young people to reap the most benefits form the ever-expanding digital space and the creative industry which are among the biggest contributors of income of income to the global economy today,” said Lonyangapuo.
The county has constructed ICT centers across the four sub-counties and is in the process of equipping them with free-Wi-Fi connections to enable the youth to access training, digital devices, mentorship and job opportunities through the Ajira Digital portal, as well as other opportunities.
Earlier on, the governor met a team from Safaricom Ltd to deliberate on areas of partnerships aimed at offering solutions aimed at the digitization of services and operations to the county. Areas highlighted for further deliberations are County fleet management system, Internet connectivity, revenue collection and drugs monitoring in the health sector. Adoption of these systems will help in increasing efficiency and ensure prudent use of public resources among other benefits.
