County First Lady Opens a consultative meeting on West Pokot Gender Draft Policy

H.E First Lady Scovia Chebet today officially opened a consultative meeting on West Pokot County Gender Based Violence Draft Policy by County Department of Culture, Tourism, Sports, Youth Affairs and Social Service at Grand Tenacity Hotel in Kitale.

The meeting facilitated by UN Women and it's implementing partners village Enterprise seeks to develop West Pokot County Gender Based Violence (GBV) Draft Policy that provide for mechanisms and strategies that enhance accountability, monitoring and evaluation for Sustainable gender based violence programs and projects while enhancing partnerships for a comprehensive response to increased cases of GBV in west Pokot county
Stakeholders drawn from various organizations and government offices including Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development (CCGD), World Vision, I-Rep Foundation , ACF, Umoja Development Organization (UDO), Jitokeze Wamama Wafrika, SIKOM Peace Network and Center for Development and national and county governments offices of Gender and Planning.
"I am committed to ensuring our community especially our girls don't go through these forms of GBVs. We need to, in a special way empower our boys and men to advocate for against such practices. Let us all learn to approach these (GBV) cases with utmost respect and confidential aspect it deserves," said the First Lady.
