Social Management and Resettlement Plans meetings held for West Pokot Informal Settlements

After finalizing the local physical and land use plans for Chepareria, Kabichbich, Aramaget, and Makutano informal settlements in West Pokot County through the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project 2, a series of meetings were held to address the social management and resettlement action plans for these areas.

Ms. Eveline Amile of LER Consult, alongside Ms. Esther Chelimo, the County Executive Committee member for lands, housing, physical planning, and urban development, spearheaded discussions outlining the objectives and strategies for these meetings, emphasizing the role of community engagement in the planning process.

Expressing gratitude for their continuous support from the settlement residents, Ms. Amile highlighted that pending approval from the county assembly, titling processes could commence promptly in the informal settlements.

The meetings drew participation from various stakeholders, including representatives from the county KISIP2 coordinating unit, national government officials, the Department of Lands, committee members, and various other vested parties.
